Moranbah Water
Integrated Water Management Solution Study
Supported by Mitsui and Co, Anglo Coal Australia and Tyco, the study looked at:
- Water management and potential for water reuse
- Distribution of 'fit for purpose' quality water across the sites
- Sewage treatment plant effluent reuse
- Water recycling schemes in Moranbah and surrounding coal mining and industrial sites
The investigation included spending a great amount of time on liaison and negotiations with both State and Federal Governments, mining companies and other industrial operations. First stage of the project was completed successfully in July 2007. A Finding Report concluded that up to 90% of industrial water demand in the region can be supplied internally if water sharing and water recycling is implemented.
